 Personal statement

I am a Medical Doctor and an Associate Professor (Reader) of Medical Microbiology. For over 18 years, I have focused on sexually transmitted infections, the discovery of emerging resistance of bacterial agents during drug trials, nosocomial infections and bioethics in Nigerians.

The impact of STI in children, the agents of STIs and the behavioural issues were studied among the Blacks. The drug trials both in-vitro and in-vivo were done and these led to the approval of a number of these drug, the quinolones for use in Nigeria.

I was a sub-investigator in the multicenter study of the efficacy of SAVVY, a microbicide for the prevention of HIV infection in Nigeria.

I was a co-investigator in a study titled Sickle Cell Disease therapeutic trial of the Institute of Child Health, College of Medicine University of Ibadan, Nigeria. This was sponsored by the Christopher Kolade Foundation. In addition I have participated in the management of Sickle Cell Patients by the Sickle cell Association of Nigeria, Ibadan.

I have to my credit over 45 peer-reviewed publications and over 10 abstracts and conference presentations
