Biography: Currently a Reader and Head of the Breast imaging Unit in the Department of Radiology, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan and honorary consultant to the University College Hospital, UCH Ibadan, Nigeria. My residency/fellowship training was acquired at the premier hospital and prestigious University College Hospital in Nigeria. I received the best training and tradition in Radiology under the first set of radiologists in Nigeria. My interest in academic radiology and clinical research started to blossom during my residency days. My dissertation submitted towards completion of my fellowship was the best that year, wining the prestigious Professor S.B Lagundoye prize; an indication of my inclination towards academic radiology and clinical research. I underwent a series of short observerships in India and South Africa to improve my breast interpretation and diagnostic ability as well as a stint as a Visiting Scholar to the Radiology department in the University of Chicago, Chicago Illinois. My research interests are in screening, early detection and risk prediction for disease prevention and health research in the Nigerian population. I have been part of the Universities of Ibadan (UI) and Chicago (UC) Partnership Training Program to foster interdisciplinary research training in the health sciences. This has impacted greatly the Ibadan multidisciplinary breast cancer tumour board and raised the standard of breast imaging and breast radiology training in the department of Radiology, University College Hospital, Ibadan. I am also fascinated by the epigenetic modifications that take place in cancer development and I previously worked on RNAs and polyadenylation as a target in cancer. My long-term research goal is to discover ways to make early diagnosis of breast cancer in women in my country to improve patient outcome and survival and in turn reduce morbidity and mortality of the disease. Current Research and Capacity Building Projects including Grants 1. Data Science and Medical image analysis training for improved healthcare in Nigeria(DATICAN) 2. Breast cancer Screening Steered by a risk prediction tool (ASSERT) 3. Tablet-based mobile health ultrasound for point-of-care breast cancer diagnosis in Nigeria 4.
