Biography:
Morufat Alabi is a dedicated mental health nurse, lecturer, and researcher specializing in enhancing mental health outcomes for individuals with chronic illnesses such as HIV, cancer, and stroke. She earned her Bachelor of Nursing Science and Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, and her Master’s degree in Mental Health Nursing from the University of Ibadan. With over a decade of clinical experience at Neuropsychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta, and University College Hospital, Ibadan, she has developed significant expertise in providing psychosocial interventions for individuals living with chronic illness.
Morufat began her academic career at the School of Nursing, University College Hospital, Ibadan, in 2018, and simultaneously joined the Department of Nursing at the University of Ibadan. In 2023, she was a visiting scholar at the Institute of Global Health, Northwestern University, Chicago, where she enhanced her skills in data analysis using STATA and MAXQDA. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and is committed to advancing research and innovation in mental health, stroke, and HIV.
Morufat is an active member of the African Forum for Research and Education in Health, ASIDO Foundation (Not for profit mental health oganization), and an alumnus of the Young African Leaders Initiative. She is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing at the University of Ibadan.
