Biography:

Odunayo trained as a physician at University of Ibadan, obtained the certification of the Royal College of Surgeons, England in Plastic Surgery in 1991, fellowship of the Medical College of Surgeons of Nigeria in 1992 and of West African College of Surgeons in 1995.

As a surgeon in the specialty of Plastic Surgery, Odunayo Oluwatosin has been involved in the training of several postgraduate fellows most of who are now professors/lecturers in other Universities in Nigeria and in several institutions in the UK and USA. He has similarly been involved in pioneering the postgraduate course in medical education which is the first of its kind in the West African sub-region. He pioneered microvascular free tissue transfer in Nigeria through the practice and introduction of the biennial course on “Flap and Microvascular Surgery” at Ibadan in 1995. His research focus is on reconstructive surgery, burns and management of complications of wounds.

Odunayo Oluwatosin’s current supervisees include a CARTA Ph.D. fellow as well as mentoring graduates especially in the specialty of Plastic surgery. He was President of the Nigerian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons from 2005 to 2007 and Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences of University of Ibadan from 2006 to 2010.
