The fund-raising drive towards the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI) Student’s Hostel, received a Big Boost when the President of the Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association North America Chapter (ICOMAA-NA), Dr. Dolamu Sokunbi and the Publicity Secretary Dr. Modupe Sokunbi donated a total of $6000 United States Dollars towards the Student Hostel building project.
Dolamu O.B. Sokunbi MD, FACP, FASN is a 1981 MBBS graduate of CoMUI. He went on to train in Internal Medicine and Nephrology in the United States and currently runs a private practice in Nephrology in Nacogdoches, Texas (TX), USA. He will complete his two-year tenure as President, ICOMAA-NA in October 2022.
Modupe Sokunbi, MD, FAAP graduated MBBS from CoMUI in 1982 and trained in Pediatrics at Stony Brook, New York. She is also in private practice in Nacogdoches, TX and is currently completing her tenure as Publicity Secretary for ICOMAA-NA. She is the incoming Vice-President of the next ICOMAA NA Executive Committee.
In their own words, “Dolamu and Modupe are very grateful for the “double blessing” from the College. Every day since their graduation, their MBBS degrees have opened doors for them all across the world. Those degrees have provided opportunities for professional growth and fulfillment as well as a secure daily livelihood that has enabled them to provide for their family”.
Dolamu and Modupe first met in Alexander Brown Hall and are therefore very grateful to be able to contribute to the building of the new Students Hostel. They pray that it will bless many generations of students in the same way that their time in ABH was such a blessing to them. They encourage all alumni to give back generously to the alma mater that first gave them so much.
We are extremely delighted that CoMUI and ICOMAA Worldwide has made arrangements with the Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association North America (ICOMAA) branch to receive funds in dollars for those having difficulty with a direct transfer to the accounts stated in the Hostel Brochure which accompanies this release.
