I had the privilege of attending the symposium organised by the Department of Paediatrics to celebrate their diamond jubilee, titled 'Six Decades of Paediatrics Practice, Research & Training at Ibadan and Her Global Relevance.' The event, held at the Paul Hendrickse Lecture Theatre on December 15, 2023, featured insightful discussions, speeches, and activities commemorating 60 years of excellence in clinical practice, teaching, training, and research.
I want to emphasize the significance of the 60th Anniversary Lecture titled 'Paediatrics in Nigeria (Ibadan): Contemporary Issues and Prospects,' delivered by Professor Sam Omokhodion, a Distinguished Professor of Paediatrics. This lecture sheds light on the state of the nation’s health sector, addressing urgent issues that require immediate attention and action. I encourage you to watch and share the lecture, particularly from 2:37:28 to 3:38:26.
However, I recommend viewing the entire ceremony from start to finish for a comprehensive understanding.
