Coping with out-of-pocket payments amongst urban poor to health services. A case study of South-western Nigeria The rates of out-of-pocket payment for health care services have remained high despite the introduction of health insurance in Nigeria. Population studies estimates a greater population living in rural areas and urban slums, which constitute a major proportion of the informal sector. This research thus aims to establish what are the coping mechanisms employed this marginalized population to out of pocket payments to the burden of out-of-pocket payments for health care services |
Electronic payments in healthcare settings: Prospects and Challenges The use of alternative sources of payments was introduced by the banking system in 2013 has been accepted by most businesses promoting efficiency with transfer of payments and security especially with large sums. This research explores the readiness of tertiary facilities to adopt the electronic payment systems which may significantly help to reduce long queues at payment points in hospital settings, thus improving coordination of patient care and prognosis. |
Access and acceptability of female condoms amongst Polytechnic undergraduates The acceptance of male condoms in a patriarchal dominated system such as Nigeria puts females at a disadvantage and limits their negotiation abilities in the face of sexual encounters. This research aims to explore the acceptability and barriers to access of female condoms amongst polytechnic undergraduates of Oyo state. |
Evaluation of State Ambulance services in Oyo state The Oyo State government established a state-wide ambulance response system in 2011, which is the first of its kind in Oyo State since democratic rule in 1999. However up till date, no evaluation has been performed to track progress, utilization and challenges that limit its effectiveness in the state. This research aims to assess Oyo State residents’ access to utilizing this laudable initiative and also to evaluate the competence of the ambulance officials in the discharge of prompt response sites, which is critical to limiting morbidities and mortalities in rescue and emergency conditions. |
