(a.)   Animal Handling: Works with rat, mice and guinea pigs; Dosing routes: oral, i.p, s.c. & i.m;
Collection of blood by cardiac puncture, blood plasma and serum separation, perfusion methods.
(b.)   Development of animal models: Induction of various models inflammation and nociception;
induction of various models of gastric (cold restraint, alcohol, aspirin and pyloric ligation) and duodenal
(Histamine induced duodenal) ulcer in rats and guinea pigs; Acetic acid induced chronic gastric ulcer
model in rats; Experimental Reflux Oesophagitis in rats.
(c.)    Surgical procedures: General surgical procedures of dissection of the major biological systems in
mammalian and non-mammalian species.
(d.)   Tissue processing: Membranous fraction, cytosolic fraction and nuclear fraction preparation.
Homogenisation and sonication procedure for tissue disruption and sample preparation, gastric
microsome preparation.
(e.)    Molecular Biology Techniques:RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, Agarose gel electrophoresis and
software based densitometric analysis of PCR products.

(f.)    Biochemical analysis:Isolation of gastric microsomes and estimation of inorganic phosphate from
gastric microsomes; Isolation of gastric mucosal cells; Enzymatic assays like COX-1 & 2 activity assay,
H + K + -ATPase activity; in vitro antioxidants assays.
      (g)Histological techniques:Formalin fixation, block preparation, sectioning using microtome,
paraffin embedding, HE staining & mounting. Visualization and image capturing in bright field
microscope.
