The Provost of the College, Professor T.O. Ogundiran, visited the secretariat of the Association of Medical Schools in Africa (AMSA), located at the Nathaniel O. Idowu Clinical Drug Trials and Toxicology Building, College of Medicine . The team was warmly received by Professor E.O. Olapade-Olaopa, former Provost of the College and President of AMSA.
The delegation included: Prof. S.B. Olaleye - Deputy Provost; A.E. Odedele - Secretary to the College; S.O. Ayansina - Financial Controller; Dr. Grace A. Ajuwon - Medical Librarian; Prof. T.A. Lawal - Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences; Prof. F.A. Fehintola - Dean, Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences; Prof. Ikeoluwapo Ajayi - Director, IAMRAT; Funmilola O. Enobabor - Principal Assistant Registrar (Provost’s Office); Opemiposoluwa S. Adediran - Administrative Officer (Provost’s Office) and A.B. Adelakun - Principal Executive Officer II (Provost’s Office).
During the visit, Professor Olapade-Olaopa provided an historical overview of AMSA, noting that it was inaugurated at the University of Ibadan in 1961. He then informed the team about the AMSA conference scheduled for September 2025.
Thereafter, the team was given a tour of various sections of the N.O. Idowu Clinical Trials and Toxicology Building, including the Regional Secretariat of AMSA. Here,they were welcomed by Mrs. Omobowale Oyedele, the Programme Manager, along with other members of staff.
In his remarks, the Provost commended Professor Olapade-Olaopa for his resilience and commitment to the success of the upcoming conference. He affirmed the College's support for the event, assuring that all efforts will be made to provide necessary assistance to ensure all goes well. Other members of the College Executive echoed these sentiments, applauding the initiative and pledging their support.
