Dr. Felix Olayinka Sogade of the CoMUI MBBS Class of 1986, a renowned cardiologist based in the United States of America, and his wife, Dr. Bola Sogade nee Adekore, a CoMUI MBBS Class of 1990 graduate, and an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist (Minimally Invasive Robotic Gynaecologic Surgeon), donated an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to the Alexander Brown Hall (ABH) hostel for Students of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI).
The event, which took place on Tuesday 25th April 2023, was held at the A.O.K. Johnson Boardroom in the Oluwole Akande Administrative Building of the College.

In her welcome address, the Provost, Professor Olayinka Omigbodun FAS, expressed her gratitude to the couple on behalf of the entire CoMUI's management, staff, and students. She also emphasised that the Sogades were Platinum donors to the new Student Hostel project being spearheaded by the Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association (ICOMAA), with a donation of N7,350,000.00. She commended them for consistently supporting the growth and development of their alma mater and actively giving back in cash and kind.
Dr. Felix Sogade and Dr. Bola Sogade stated that they would like to support the inception of an Advanced Electrophysiology Fellowship in CoMUI and the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. He also reiterated that the support is a way of giving back to their alma mater.
During the event, Dr. Felix Sogade made a presentation on the importance of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), citing cases he had treated in the past as a Cardiologist.
The couple were warmly received by the Provost, the Deputy Provost, Professor A.F. Adeniyi, the Secretary to the College, Mr. E.A. Odedele, the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Professor T.O. Ogundiran, and the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Professor B.M. Kolude. The Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in CoMUI, Professor S.I Omokhodion was represented by Dr. Lola Oladapo while the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the University College Hospital, also a renowned Cardiologist, Dr. Abiodun Adeoye, was represented by the Deputy CMAC Clinical Services, Dr. Taiwo Soyinka.
The Chairman of the College Internationalization and External Relations Committee, Dr. Funmilola OlaOlorun, of the Department of Community Medicine, was present at the event, while two distinguished cardiologists, Dr. O. Ogah (Immediate Past President of the Nigerian Cardiac Society) and Dr. A.A Adebiyi from the Department of Medicine graced this event as well as Dr. Bosede Adebayo, a passionate and diligent Cardiologist from the Department of Paediatrics.
The Hall Warden and Assistant Hall Warden, Dr. O. C. Uchendu, and Dr. Temitope Ilori respectively, came along with nine members of the ABH Health Committee led by the Chairperson, Salami David. The members of the Health Committee in attendance were A.M Salawudeen, Jesufemi Adeyeye, Tejiri Napoleon, Adebiyi Umar-Farouq, Oluwadarasimi Fashina, Inioluwa Elijah Ayomide, Oluwaseun Adekotan and Bieteti Ukpong. David Salami received the donation flagged by other members of the Health Committee.
The event ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. E.A Odedele, the Deputy Registrar and Secretary to the College.
