The College Management, in its commitment to ensuring that staff and students have access to fast and stable internet services, approved the upgrade of the College’s bandwidth in December 2025. Since then, the contracted service provider, Galaxy Backbone, has been working diligently to activate the upgrade, which will also serve as a backup to the bandwidth currently provided by the University.
I am pleased to inform you that the Galaxy Backbone internet bandwidth is now fully operational in the College. This development is expected to bring an end to the slow internet speeds experienced in recent times and will significantly enhance productivity, enabling staff and students to complete online tasks more efficiently. It will also greatly support and improve our online teaching activities.
The College Management welcomes feedback from both staff and students. Any complaints or issues encountered should be directed to the Assistant Director of the Information Technology Unit for prompt resolution.
We sincerely appreciate your patience during the period of network challenges and trust that this upgrade will provide a much-improved internet experience for everyone in the College. I also wish to express my gratitude to Professor S. B. Salako, a former Provost of the College, for facilitating this process, as well as to the entire IT team for the successful implementation of this upgrade.
Thank you.
Professor T. O. Ogundiran
Provost, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan
