Biography:

DR JIMOH MUTIU ALANI graduated from Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun State, where he received his first degree in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.CH. B) 2005. He joined the University College Hospital Ibadan in 2008 for his Post-graduate training. There, he completed his residency fellowship training in Radiation/Clinical Oncology. He is a Member of the America Society for Clinical Oncology, is Board certified in Clinical/Radiation Oncology by the West Africa College of Surgeons.
He has special interests in the treatment of Head & Neck, Breast, Gastrointestinal & Gynaecological oncology sub-specialties.He proceeded to University of Ibadan   to obtained  master of Science (M.Sc.) Chemical Pathology, 2018 and various professional certificates, including certificates in Leadership and management in health, project management in health and implementation science in health all at University of Washington, United State. He is a member of the National Postgraduate Medical College.

 Board member faculty of Radiology by the West Africa College of Surgeons, Association of Radiologists of West African and African Organization of Research and Training.

Dr. Jimoh has a zeal for research and is widely published in various international and local journals. He has special interests in the treatment of Gynaecological, Head & Neck, Breast and Gastrointestinal cancers. From 2019  -till date Dr jimoh was pioneer principal investigator of the Gene Expression Profiling of Non-Communicable Diseases in Nigeria.  (54 Gene Heritage Study Grant. 2019).

He currently practices as a Consultant Clinical/Radiation Oncologist/ senior Lecturer at University College Hospital, Ibadan and University of Ibadan.

Area of Specialization

Majority (75%) of Dr jimoh ‘s publication are in the field of breast cancer, gynaecological, Head&neck, Gastrointestinal and pediatric cancer. The early part of his research work was conducted at the different  facet of healthcare, cancer patient in Nigeria. The first large scale study of the prevalence and pattern of cancer attending a Nigerian healthcare center  setting was researched.

Brief Summary: 54gene is a research, services and development company located in Nigeria and the United States. The company was founded in 2019 by Dr Abasi Ene-Obong to improve our understanding of the world's most genetically diverse population. 54gene utilises human genetic data from diverse African populations, to improve the development, availability and efficacy of medical products that will prove beneficial to Africans and the wider global population.NCD-GHS Consortium is a partnership of Nigerian geneticists from 54gene, Nigeria Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), the National Biotechnology Development Agency's Centre for Genomics Research and Innovation (NABDA-CGRI), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The consortium will study cardio-metabolic diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, cancers that are more prevalent on the African continent, endocrine disorders and sickle cell disease.
