You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Biography: Biobele Brown had his secondary school education at the Federal Government College, Port Harcourt, from where he graduated in 1984. He then gained admission into the University of Ibadan, to study Medicine and Surgery and graduated with the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B., B.S) degree in 1990. He had his rotational Internship at the University College Hospital, Ibadan after which he proceeded to Plateau State, Nigeria where served the nation in the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and was among the 10 Youth Corps member who received the State Honours award for meritorious service. He subsequently had his specialist training in Paediatrics at the University College Hospital, Ibadan between the year 1994 and 2000 after which he qualified as a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, Faculty of Paediatrics -FWACP (Paed) in the year 2000. He also obtained an M.Sc degree in Medical Statistics in the year 2005. He was appointed as a Lecturer in Paediatrics at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in the year 2000 and later appointed as an Honorary Consultant Paediatrician at the University College Hospital, Ibadan in March, 2002. He rose to the rank of Professor of Paediatrics in the year 2016 and for many years has headed the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology unit of the Department of Paediatrics. His areas of interest are blood diseases especially sickle cell disorders and Childhood cancers. He has had training by observership on these areas in several universities in the United States of America and training on palliative care in Uganda. So, he is also a palliative care provider for his patients working with other members of the Hospice and Palliative Care department of the Hospital. He has several publications in book chapters and scientific peer-reviewed journals. He has served as an external examiner in the undergraduate examinations in several Universities in Nigeria and also an examiner in the West African Postgraduate Medical Examinations. He is a member several professional bodies such as the Nigeria Medical Association, Medical and Dental Consultants Association, Paediatric Association of Nigeria (where served as Assistant General Secretary), Sickle Cell Support Society of Nigeria, International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP), the African Organization for Research and Training in Africa (AORTIC) and the Nigerian Society of Paediatric Oncology (NISPO) where he served as President between January 2022 to January 2024. Professor Brown has also been involved in a number of collaborative research bodies such as the SickleinAfrica, Malaria Proteomics with the Medical Research Council London, FastMal with the Faculty of Computer Science, University College London and clinical trials with some pharmaceutical companies.
