RESEARCH: JUST COMPLETED

1. Risk and prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients with major mental health disorders

2. Inflammation, insulin resistance and basal metabolic rate in adults with sickle cell anaemia

3. Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) and ghrelin responses to ingestion of selected Nigerian diets

4. Elevated plasma levels of fetuin-A and visfatin in patients with major mental health disorders.

5. Impact of type and duration of use of antipsychotic drugs on plasma levels of fibrinogen and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 in patients with major mental illnesses.

ON-GOING RESEARCH PROJECTS:

1. Vitamin D, copeptin, procalcitonin and insulin resistance as severity and prognostic markers in intensive care unit patients

2. Occipital fat fold as index of obesity (adiposity-based chronic disease) and as a cardiovascular risk factor in apparently healthy Nigerians
