The Senate of the University of Ibadan, at its meeting of Monday, 24 February 2025, approved the appointment of four retired distinguished scholars of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan as Emeritus Professors. This is in recognition of their outstanding contributions to academia in their respective fields of expertise.

Emeritus Professor A. O. Ojengbede
A highly regarded expert in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Professor Ojengbede has made significant contributions to maternal health and medical education thus enhancing healthcare practices.
Emeritus Professor O. Gureje
A leading psychiatrist, Professor Gureje has been at the forefront of mental health research, particularly in the areas of depression, epidemiology, and health policy. His work has influenced mental health strategies in Nigeria and beyond.
Emeritus Professor S. I. Omokhodion
Specializing in Paediatric Cardiology, Professor Omokhodion’s career has been marked by outstanding contributions to this field while inspiring generations of students.
Emeritus Professor A. Ogunniyi
An eminent Professor of Medicine and honorary consultant neurologist to the University College Hospital, Ibadan (UCH), Professor Ogunniyi distinguished himself as a researcher on the epidemiology of degenerative diseases of the nervous system as he led many funded initiatives on dementia, medical education, and capacity building in Neurology.
