b) IN PROGRESS
i) Carcinogenetic implications of Benzo[a]pyrene exposure in motor garage workers.
The present study entails blood and urine sampling in all workers in a selected Motor garage in Ibadan, analysing for free radicals, antioxidants, benzo[a]pyreneand 1 OH pyrene in blood and urine respectively.
Data collection has been completed while sample analysis has commenced.
Data analysis (statistical analysis) should commence within 4-6 weeks.
ii) Health promoting effects of Vernonia amygdalina (VA) and Garcinia kola (GK) in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with leg ulcer.
This study aims to investigate the health benefits of these commonly eaten vegetables in the control of D.M 2 as well as in the healing of ulcers associated with this ailment.
This study started with use of animal models to test for acute toxicity. This work has reached data collation and paper writing is almost concluded. The second part of this work is at analytical stage where D.M 2 patients with ulcer have been treated with capsulated products of these vegetables. The results of the 3rd step in this study, is to review with Pathologists and Plastic Surgeons, the ulcer depth as means of accessing wound healing.
