 Biography:

Dr. Yewande Tolulope, Nejo is a Virologist at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria. She was born on 14th July 1983 in Ijero Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. After her elementary school in 1993 at Christ Nursery and Primary School, Ado Ekiti, She attended St. Helen’s Unity Secondary School, Ondo from 1993 to 1999. She then proceeded to the University of Ilorin, Kwara State where she obtained her Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Microbiology in the year 2003. She continued with postgraduate studies at the Department of Virology, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria where she obtained both M.Sc. and Ph.D. Virology in 2007 and 2019 respectively.

Dr. Nejo started her academic career in 2008 when she joined the service of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences and became Lecture II in 2019 and Lecturer I in 2022. During this period, she served as a Staff Adviser (II) to Bowen Association of Biological Students (BABS), Coordinator of Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES), Examination Officer, Hall Mistress, a member of the Committee on Environmental Awareness and Waste Management, and a member, of the Committee on Examination Irregularities. She was a member of the Bat research group and the Principal Investigator in SARS-CoV-2 Research where she functioned as a Virologist in determining the safety of humanities from viral infections

Dr. Yewande Nejo proceeded to the University of Ibadan in 2023 at the Department of Virology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Medicine as Lecturer I and immediately served as the Postgraduate Coordinator in the Department.

Dr. Nejo is a member of both national and international professional bodies across the globe and has attended several trainings, workshops, and conferences both locally and internationally. She has published several articles in reputable journals and has submitted several other manuscripts.  She is competent in Molecular techniques such as Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Gel electrophoresis, and Sequencing. She is a seasoned Lecturer and Researcher and has conducted some epidemiological research on several viruses including Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), some respiratory viruses, and, Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) among others.

She is happily married with children.
