On Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (COMUI), Professor T. O. Ogundiran, FAS alongside some members of the College Executive Committee; the immediate past Provost, Professor Olayinka O. Omigbodun and members of the CoMUI/ICOMAA Hostel Building Committee, headed by the Co-Chairperson, Professor Gbemisola Oke, received a delegation led by Mrs. Vicky I. Falope, former Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Government, who was in the company of Venerable O. O. Olubodun and Mrs. Olufunmilola Fagbamiye. The visit was organised to assess progress on the 88-room students’ hostel project sponsored by Major General T. Y. Danjuma.
With the Provost on the CoMUI team was Mr. A. E. Odedele, Deputy Registrar and Secretary to the College; Dr. Grace A. Ajuwon, Medical Librarian; Professor Oyeronke A. Odunola, Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and Dr. Bosede E. Adebayo, Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences. Also present to receive the visitor were Emeritus Professor S. I. Omokhodion, President of the Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association Worldwide (ICOMAA-WW); the immediate past President of ICOMAA Worldwide, Professor E.O. Otolorin; a team from the Works & Maintenance Department of the University headed by Engineer O.A. Adetolu, Director of Works and the Structural Engineering Consultant, Engineer Wale Lagunju.

The Managing Director of Monumental Construction Limited, Builder O. S. Ademeso, provided an insight into the project, explaining that the hostel is designed to accommodate 176 students. The building has 88 rooms, 22 rooms on each floor and each room is designed to house two occupants. He also highlighted that the building includes four well-equipped reading rooms to support students’ academic activities. Builder Ademeso assured that the project is on schedule and is expected to be fully completed by the end of February 2026.

The sod-turning ceremony for the T.Y. Danjuma hostel of CoMUI was held on August 1, 2022. This project is made possible by the generous donation from General T.Y.Danjuma as a panacea for the dire need for hostel accommodation for the students in CoMUI, to improve their welfare and enhance their campus life.
